• Are you an outstanding classroom teacher with a passion for SEND?
  • Are you able to demonstrate excellent adaptive teaching within your classroom?
  • Do you enjoy problem solving?
  • Are you committed to developing your skills as a Senior Leader?

If so, you could be the next Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for SEND at Fremington Primary School.

Fremington Primary School is a member of the Tarka Learning Partnership (TLP), a group of North Devon schools who actively collaborate to improve children’s outcomes. As a Trust, we offer excellent career and development opportunities and an outstanding support network from our colleague SENDCos, Trust Educational Psychologist and Inclusion Leader.

This is a full-time, permanent position on School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions. We are looking for a skilled, outstanding classroom practitioner who is able to demonstrate high levels of effectiveness in the classroom.

You need to have strong organisational, leadership and communication skills, and should be able to offer advice, support and motivation to children, staff, parents and the wider community.

You will lead and manage the school’s provision of SEND within a busy school and will need to demonstrate your ability to deliver the best possible outcomes for all learners and provide evidence of successful multi-agency working.

Holding the National Professional SENDCo Qualification would be an advantage, however, not essential, as we are willing to train and support the right candidate through this award. What is essential, is to be an outstanding classroom teacher with excellent leadership skills, who is able to demonstrate successful adaptive teaching strategies within the classroom.

The role will also be to assist in provision for pupils’ wellbeing and provide support for pupils displaying social, emotional and behavioural needs by working in partnership with staff, families/carers, professionals and pupils in a school context. Monitoring, support for pupils and staff and working with families to support school pupils’ behaviour and wellbeing is fundamental in this role.

The SENDCo works under the direction of the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher whilst being expected to work under less direct supervision and independently manage behaviour incidents, plan and deliver activities and work with families, staff and external agencies. Line management of our Early Help Leader Advisor is a key element of the role. Although not class-based, this post does require the SENDCo to work alongside children. Our SENDCo will also be Assistant Headteacher and a key member of our Senior Leadership Team. The successful applicant will work as part of the TLP SEND and Inclusion Network.

If you would like to join a friendly and supportive team, and work with children who are well motivated and want to learn, then we would like to hear from you. Visits to the school are very welcomed and encouraged. Alternatively, we are happy for prospective applicants to have a conversation with a member of the leadership team regarding the role, the school or the Trust.

All positions in the school are subject to an Enhanced DBS check and the successful candidate will be required to have other background checks to ensure suitability to work with children.

Start date: 01/09/2023
