“The Park Community School is a secondary comprehensive (11-16) based on a beautiful 25 acre site situated near the town centre of Barnstaple. The school occupies the site of the former grammar school and dates back to 1907. We educate over 1500 students using our house system to create a small school feel within a larger school setting. The school is proud of its traditions and history and has an active alumni network that uses students of the past to support and inspire our current students. However, we are also a school that is forward-facing, absorbing new technologies and aspects of educational research to ensure that our students are best prepared to inhabit – and to help mould and improve – the complex world that awaits them.

Since joining the Tarka Learning Partnership the school has been delighted to forge stronger links with our partner primary schools, using these deeper relationships to consider our curriculum and how we build on their excellent work. The trust has also supported the development of our campus with joint work to develop and submit successful CIF bids which has brought in considerable capital revenue to the school. This helps us to enhance the learning environment and provide better facilities for current and future students.”
